Muhammad Usman Qayyum is associated with Bahria University Islamabad as Professor of Computer Science and Director, Center of Excellence in Artificial Intelligence. He also takes the role of the Head, AI Enabling Technologies Research Center. Previously, he has been associated with National University of Sciences and Technology and Interactive Group of Companies, Pakistan. Dr. Siddiqi received a PhD in Computer Science from University de Paris, France in 2009 and a Master’s degree from the same institute (with distinction). Prior to that, he completed BE in Computer Software Engineering from the National University of Sciences and Technology and received the President’s Gold Medal. His research interests include deep (machine) learning and pattern classifications to various computer vision problems especially document & handwriting analysis and video analytics. He has been a key contributor in the curriculum development of various under-graduate and post-graduate programs. He has authored more than 120 publications in international peer-reviewed conferences and journals and has received several research grants. He’s also one of the founding members of Pakistan Pattern Recognition Society (PPRS), the official chapter of IAPR in Pakistan. He was also awarded the Best University Teacher Award by the Higher Education Commission (HEC), Pakistan, in the year 2018.
